Am I the only one who has a hard time buying solid pillows? Of course they have their place. And solids can be really beautiful too in a really quality velvet or linen. But I’m a sucker for a pattern every single time. Pattern doesn’t always have to steal the show, and it can in fact play a really supportive role in layering. Today for Five on Friday I’ve rounded up some favorite patterned neutral pillows that look good with just about everything.

All of these prints are very classic but done in a modern way. Can you get more classic than a black and white stripe? Each of the pillows is very interesting on it’s own, or can play a secondary role to another bolder pattern or color in the room. (Even the leopard, I promise!)

See how well this geometric pattern plays with another large scale print and floral. It still reads as a neutral both because of the color and because it’s repeated in the drapes.

Antelope has gotten so popular lately, and I love it as a softer alternative to the boldness of leopard. The tones in this fabric are especially soft and muted.

Stripes go with everything. Do I need to say more?
Now I’ll admit that the leopard print is the boldest of the 5, and it’s not something everyone would consider a neutral. But it’s also one of those prints that goes with just about everything, while also adding a bit of glamour. Subtle it is not, but I would argue that it is indeed neutral.

Checks read very much like a stripe to me, and this black and white option fits in with most decor styles. Considering it seems to be trending right now, checks are a great way to make your space feel current.
What about you? Are patterned neutral pillows your thing, or do you need more solids? I’d love to hear your vote in the comments!
