I am so happy to see Friday. This has just been one of those weeks where I really want the reset of the weekend. I attempted to potty train my youngest, and after 18 accidents I gave up. My kids were bored and fighting and it feels like they fell into a rhythm of fighting that we haven’t broken out of yet. My house became a complete disaster in the process, so I’ve got some catching up to do today. But that leads in perfectly to the first thing I wanted to share with you!
Podcasts
Do you listen to podcasts? I have been for a couple of years now, and while I listen to a wide variety of topics, I’m going to share my favorites related to style and home decor. I love listening to podcasts while I’m putting on my makeup, doing the dishes, folding laundry, and while driving when the kids have a movie on.
- Young House Love has a Podcast – This is a really new podcast, but it immediately became my favorite. If you’re not familiar with Young House Love, they are a married couple who have DIYed their way through 3 homes and blogged about it. They used to blog full time, but about a year ago they took a break from the blogging world. They are blogging occasionally now, and started this podcast. Young House Love was my favorite blog when they were blogging full time (you can still find all of their amazing DIY tutorials on their blog!), so I was really excited to tune in to the podcast. They are funny, don’t take themselves too seriously, and interview some really big names.
- Style Matters Podcast – This podcast is by Zandra & Karen June of Little Yellow Couch, and they do weekly interviews with what they call “style makers”, people who are influencers in the design world. Sometimes I am familiar with the person they are interviewing (like Eddie Ross), but more often than not this podcast introduces me to new-to-me creatives that are really inspiring. I have found new blogs to follow, new books to read, and really great insights as they discuss “Why does style matter to you?”.
- Chris Loves Julia Podcast – I haven’t actually listened to this one yet, but I do follow them on Instagram. Really beautiful interiors. Young House Love was a guest and recommended them, so I’ll be checking this one out today while I’m cleaning my house!
HomeGoods
I made a trip to HomeGoods this week and wanted everything. I mentioned in my Living Room Update post that HomeGoods can be a good source for inexpensive blue and white ginger jars, and they did not disappoint! My store has several sizes and patterns, and this little guy came home with me.
I also picked up a set of really pretty bookends. Slowly making progress on the living room, I will hopefully have another update for you in August!!
My dream sofa is a chesterfield. I have one pinned up on my Inspiration Board, and I stop and drool every time I see one. I would love to bring this beauty home. It’s in the “as is” section though, and I don’t know about yours, but my HomeGoods seems to want an awful lot for their damaged goods.
Enjoy your weekend! I will be prepping for VACATION!!! I’m so excited, follow me on Snapchat (happymeetshome) to see what I’m up to!
